Pakistan link? Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde’s, X account hacked (X/TIN)

Eknath Shinde’s, X account hacked: Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister’s official X account was hacked on Sunday, which sparked a online security scare among socialmedia users. Reportedly, users got access to his profile and also shared posts showcasing the national flags of Pakistan and Turkey. 

X Post removed

The post was live for a while and but was deleted later. After the unauthorised post, officials from Shinde’s office confirmed that the unauthorised activity by the hacker was identified, and necessary measures were taken to secure the Maharashtra Deputy CM's account.

After hacking Shinde's account, the hackers posted images of two Islamic countries, when India and Pakistan are all set to play their rematch in the ongoing Asia Cup. The statement of the official stated, "We immediately alerted the cyber crime police. Our team that is in-charge of the Dy CM's X handle later retrieved the account." 

Shinde's account recovered

As per the officials, the technical team took action immediately to resolve the issue without any delay to restore the security of the Shinde's account. As per the officials, the account has been been fully recovered and no sensitive information was compromised.

Political cybersecurity concern

This is not the first time when social media account of any political leader has been hacked. Several similar events occured in past as well when political leader’s social media handle security became a majot concern. High-profile political leaders often use social media platforms like X to convey their message to public and directly communicate with citizens.
